On
Abortion
by Gary Wooten
The
Bible declares that only God gives life and that only He has the right to take
it away. In 1973 the Supreme court of the
United States of America declared in a single decision that they in their
infinite wisdom could supercede God. This decision
was made
by a small group and was never presented to the American people to vote
on. By their decision they gave the right
to terminate life before birth to anyone who did not want to
face the
responsibility of parenthood, or
wanted to hide the sin of an
immoral lifestyle.
By their infinite wisdom they decided for all generations to
follow that life did not begin
until the baby had completely exited the birth canal. Once the baby had exited the birth
canal, if
the doctor or anyone in attendance did anything to end the baby's life it would
be murder. Anything done before the complete exit
would be covered under a term
called "abortion".
This allowed the medical profession to even develop the
barbaric
procedure
called "Partial Birth Abortion". In this procedure the
doctor would turn the
baby in the birth canal so that the feet exit first
followed by the remainder of the body,
leaving the
head still
concealed inside the birth canal. The
"doctor" would then jam a pair of scissors
into the base of the baby's
skull and then use forceps to crush
the baby's head which
would
effectively terminate the life processes of the "birth
tissue" before
"life" had begun. The Supreme court's decision appears to be based on
the teaching of
evolution which states that life
begins at birth.
Anything prior to birth is
termed "birth tissue" and can be
"disposed" of without
any complications or questions.
This teaching
has
gone so far as to sway the masses into it's
acceptance by claiming it
is
necessary in some cases to save the life of the mother, or
to prevent the birth of a less
than "perfect" child or to terminate an
unwanted pregnancy due to rape
or incest. I would
like to discuss
these three reasons in a little more depth. I realize that my view is not
popular and will not sit well with many people, but we need to
realize that this is a life or
death issue for the most helpless of all human
beings!!
The
use of abortion to save the life of the mother causes me confusion and anger.
Number
one, I do not know of a single
"mother" that would say "Kill my child and save
me!" That is
not
what mothers are all about! Along the same line, if it is only birth
tissue
until delivery, how then
can we call the pregnant female
"Mother" in it is necessary to save the life of the mother!!
I
know that I will probably anger a lot of people on the subject of abortion
because
of incest
or rape. But this is the only crime that
I know of where the victim is executed for
the crime of the
perpetrator! In a
normal family, if the father goes out and commits a
crime,
the law does not
come and execute his son or daughter! This is what happens
when
we justify abortion in these
cases. Maybe the
"mother" can not abide the thought of raising a child conceived under
these
circumstances, and I understand that, but there are more
families wanting to adopt children
every year than are available even if there
were no abortions. The child is not guilty of the crime
but
is merely a result!!
On
the subject of abortion to prevent the birth of a less than perfect child I
really get
angry! If
any statement proves that we believe
that we have superceded God this is it!!
We think we have
the right to determine
whether or not someone can live or contribute to
our society based on our
determination of their "perfection!!!" Isn't
that what Hitler tried
to do with his master race theory?? It's funny
that his "Master Race" was defeated by
less than "perfect"
common everyday soldiers from all walks of life who valued the
sanctity
of life above everything else. If we allow only the "perfect" to be
born, we will
never see some of the greatest inventions, discoveries
or
works of art we could ever
imagine. We will miss the joy we receive by giving
aid, love and nurturing to those who
have to struggle
to accomplish anything. We will miss learning how to truly love, from
those who
do not know how to hate.
When
my daughter in law was pregnant with our grandson, the doctors at a certain
point
require the mother to take a test to check
for Downs Syndrome. My son and
daughter in law
were not crazy about taking the
test but the doctors insisted. The day the
test was
done, the technicians informed them that the machine was not functioning
properly but proceeded with the test anyway. A week later
she received a call from the
doctor stating that the test had found abnormalities and the child, if born would have
severe Downs
Syndrome. The doctor suggested that they consider abortion. This
caused a lot of
pain and mental anguish for all involved. We
immediately went to prayer,
reminding God of our trust in Him and that we
believed that this child was His gift and
was special to
Him. Abortion was never a consideration for abortion spelled
any way
you like is
still MURDER!! Zachariah arrived right on schedule
at 8lbs 9oz and 22 1/2 inches long and with the strongest grip I have ever felt
in a child. But the most amazing part was
the grip he
placed on my heart from the moment I first saw him! How anyone
could brutally murder something so beautiful before even looking
on their face is beyond
me. A society
that is
that cold and tries to justify
this cold inhuman act with all the excuses listed above, is a
society
that God will hold accountable and will judge and
condemn accordingly!!
One
last item to be considered. There is a great fear in this country today
concerning the
social security system. It is projected that
within a few years the social
security system, that we
have all been
contributing to, will be bankrupt. In all the
discussions and debates
the real reason
for the impending collapse of social security is
never
mentioned. Since 1973 and the infamous
Roe vs Wade decision
35 to 40 million babies have been aborted in the United States. 35 to 40
million
people that will never
hold a job or contribute to social
security. You do the math and see
why the system will
fail!!
